Just out of curiosity, what does the $5,000 target on the donation-ometer represent?

Is it the point at which you will release a particular version (like a bounty) or does it have some other meaning (if any)?

Hi Nasi,

You raise a good question. As you can understand we are still finalising allot how Fusion Ticket is running and what our direction is.

Me and NielsNL have been talking and will review the meter in the next few days. We are thinking about pushing out a release after the donation meter is full which would be X amount.

We will finalise and release a news article when decided and made official.

Thanks again,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info – it seems like the answer at the moment is that there isn't a clear answer!

More generally then, what are donated funds used for, where do they go?

The setup you have here is quite unusual compared to most open source projects, more 'closed' than most. I curious as to the thinking behind your decisions; restricted releases of new code, no open svn access – things likely to put off potential new contributors from getting involved…

To be clear, I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, just to have an open discussion in order to better understand the FT ecosystem.

Cheers,
Stephen

That's fine, we want to be open with our users.

Yes you are quite right in the respect to it not being a conventional open source project.

Originally we did have a full open SVN and code, but we have moved away from that, but we will always have a free, open source version.

I can't be too forward with our plans as they are to come in due time. But we are trying to 'guide' Fusion Ticket with keeping the source code limited to people that are really dedicated to progressing Fusion Ticket. Then letting people who need to modify code once released do so freely, and if they want to get involved we happily embrace that.
In the past we have people that say "Can I become involved?" then never come back.

We are just trying to look in interest in Fusion Ticket. When we reach RC1 allot of Organisation restructuring will take place, and the future of how we want to progress Fusion Ticket from there will be decided with FT and the community/customers in mind.

As for what happens with money at the moment, nearly all of it goes back into Fusion Ticket, either donating to 3rd party software included ( such as Swift Mailer, HTML2PDF, Joomla, which your welcome to donate too), Hosting and Software Licences then Beer whilst answering support questions

Hope that clears up some questions.

Any input on how you would like to see FT change/improve are always welcome.

Thanks,
Chris
