Graphic Seating Maps - How to

Using Graphic Seating maps [for the online user to select 'categories' on the Seating Sections page] is fairly easy, and only requires a basic understanding of HTML Image Maps.

From your Administration menu, select 'Venues'.

Once you have your venue selected (hint: Click 'edit' on the seating chart you wish to upload your graphic to)

In the section labeled 'Picture of the seat chart' select browse, and choose your PNG image of your seating chart and select 'Save'

This will upload your image and link it to your seating layout.

You will now be able to see your list of seating categories. Pick the first one you wish to draw on your map and click 'edit'

In the text box labeled 'Category data', enter your image map data. If your seating area is a perfect rectangle that starts 10 pixels in from the side and 20 pixels down from the top and extends to 300 pixels in from the side and 60 pixels down - you would put:

shape=“rect” coords =“10,20,300,60”

This tells the browser that the area is a Rectangle and it starts at (X,Y) 10, 20 and finishes at (X,Y) 300,60.

Repeat this for all of your seating categories - and you should then have a fully interactive seating map displayed to your end users.

You can do much trickier things with Polygons etc and I suggest reading a little more about HTML Image Maps.
